英语中名词分为可数名词和不可数名词两种,而可数名词有单数、复数两种形式。当表示一本书,一支钢笔等单个概念时需要用单数形式,且常在名词前加冠词a或an。若要表示两个或两个以上的人或物就要用复数形式。如: six, seven, eight, nine, ten都表示的是多个物品,所以它们后面都要跟可数名词的复数形式。
可数名词单数变复数的规则:
1. 一般情况直接在可数名词后加-s。如: book — books, ruler — rulers, chair — chairs
2. 以s, x, s h , c h 等结尾的名词,一般在词尾加-e s。如: box — boxes, bus — buses
3. 以辅音字母+y结尾的单词,把y变 i再加-e s。如: baby — babies
但当遇到元音字母+y结尾的单词,直接在词尾加-s。如: boy — boys
4. 以字母o结尾的名词,加-s或- e s。如: zoo — zoos, potato — potatoes
5. 以f或 f e 结尾的名词,变f或 f e 为v,再加- e s。如: leaf — leaves, knife — knives
