“What…for?”是在不理解对方的动机或询问对方的目的和用意时的常用语，相当于“Why”,意为“为何目的，为何理由”，常用because引导的句子作答。

afford 通常与can/could/be able to 等连用意思是“有足够的（金钱，时间）做……”多用于否定句和疑问句。

Whether we can finish the task on time or not depends on the weather.
